morse code blanket, 2006
hand dyed, digitally jacquard woven cotton
Two texts, a sleep mantra found on the internet and an excerpt from a William Kotzwinkle short story, were converted into morse code. The on/off patterning of the morse code was then translated into two seperate computer generated weave patterns and woven together on a hand operated Jaquard Loom. The blanket, although impossible to literally read, is a material holder of the two embedded texts.
